Extended information on Cookies (Provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority no. 229 of 8 may 2014)

Definition of “cookie”

Cookies are strings of text of small size that the websites visited by users send to their PC (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same websites the next time the same user visits that website. There are different types of cookies, but basically their main purpose is to provide a better browsing experience through the Site or to enable certain functionalities. In order to make our services as efficient as possible, this Site uses cookies.

When navigating a site, users may also receive cookies on their terminal sent by other websites or web servers (so-called “third party” cookies). This happens because the site visited may contain elements such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages belonging to other domains that reside on servers different from the one containing the requested page. Below is the information on the cookies used by this site as well as the indications necessary in order to manage your preferences regarding them.

Types of Cookie used

There are various kinds of cookie with different features and functions and they can remain on the computer or mobile device of the user for different periods of time: session cookies are cancelled automatically when the browser is closed, while persistent cookies remain on the user’s computer until a set expiration date.

Based on current legislation in Italy, to use these cookies the express consent of the user is not always required. In particular, the so-called “technical” cookies do not require such consent, i.e. those used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to perform a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these cookies are indispensable for the proper functioning of the site or necessary to perform the activity requested by the customer. The data Controller shall supply relevant information to the user regarding technical cookies, pursuant to art. 13 of the Privacy Code.

Among the technical cookies that do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see General Measure entitled “Individuazione delle modalità semplificate per l'informativa e l'acquisizione del consenso per l'uso dei cookie - 8 maggio 2014”) regarding Simplified Arrangements to Provide Information and Obtain Consent Regarding Cookies of 8 May, 2014, also includes:

  • “analytics” cookies, used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site,
  • browsing or session cookies (for example, for authentication, to make a purchase, etc.),
  • function cookies, which allow users to browse based on a series of selected criteria (such as language, or a wishlist) in order to improve the service rendered to him/her.

For the so-called “profiling” cookies, i.e., those used for statistical purposes (cookies managed by third parties) and for sharing content on social networks (social network cookies) prior consent by the user is required.

In the Site owned by Fabio Perini S.p.A., all cookies different from the a-m technical cookies are installed or enabled only following express consent by the user the first time he/she visits the Site. Consent may be expressed in general fashion, by interacting with the short information banner present on the initial Site page, or as the user continues browsing. This consent is kept track of for subsequent visits. However, the user always has the faculty of wholly or partially withdrawing the consent previously expressed.

Personal data contained in the cookies present on Sites property of Fabio Perini S.p.A. are not disseminated and are processed using automated means only for the time strictly necessary to attain the scope they were collected for.
