Francesco De Luca is Fabio Perini SpA’s new General Manager for the Bologna site.

Aged 46, born in Naples, a degree in mechanical engineering with an MBA at Milan’s MIP Politecnico, he has worked with several multinational corporations such as the Metecno Group, the Candy Hoover Group and Norsk Hydro, where he had the opportunity to extend his knowledge in the field of general management, working in several extra-European countries such as China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Iran, Syria, Turkey and Egypt.

A new commercial partnership was launched between Fabio Perini S.p.A., global leader in the converting and packaging compartment of the Tissue industry, and DM Pack Srl, an Italian company specialized in designing and producing machinery and systems for the packaging industry.

 

Hamburg (Germany) / Joinville (Brazil) August 02, 2019. The international technology group Körber acquires Roll-Tec Cilindro Ltda. based in São Paulo, Brazil. Roll-Tec develops, produces and sells engraving cylinders for embossing machines for tissue paper and other tissue products. The acquisition was completed effective July 31, 2019.

The aim of the acquisition is the further international expansion of the Körber Group's Business Area Tissue. The Business Area offers complete solutions for converting and packaging machines for toilet paper, folded tissue and paper towels.

Aquabond was used for the first time back in 2009. A decade later, many satisfied customers consider it the most functional and environmentally-friendly water lamination solution.

 

Ten years have gone by since Aquabond was launched. During this time, Fabio Perini S.p.A. continued researching new state-of-the-art technological solutions for making tissue rolls that improve the final product for consumers, reduce costs for manufacturers, and are environmentally sustainable.

For the first time, 140 colleagues participated in the Lucca and Engraving Solutions production workshop.

The goal is to train all employees from BA Tissue by 2021 on the issues of continuous improvement and provide an essential framework of the Lean six Sigma approach. This approach is based on the fusion of two methodologies:

 

Six months after its disclosure, Fabio Perini Spa takes stock of Digital Tissue™, the suite of digital solutions for the tissue ecosystem aimed at optimizing the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the lines: as of today, over one hundred thirty lines all over the world (between Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa) are connected to the Lucca headquarters allowing to constantly control the fact-based production thanks to a “graphic thermometer” which keeps the customer and Fabio Perini engineers up-to-date on the machines’ status in an intuitive way.

 

Peter R. Augustine, President, Fabio Perini North America, has been named as Chair of the Board for the Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI).

 

His wide-ranging professional and personal experience naturally aligns with TAPPI’s focus on driving innovation for the paper and packaging industry which, according to TAPPI CEO and President Larry Montague, made Augustine a standout choice for the role.

1. Energy saving and performance improvement

Among the many solutions presented at iT's Tissue 2018, the new Process Control System was launched, which allows measuring on-line the main characteristics of the web and the finished product in a fully automated way and without human intervention. The system can measure the diameter, weight, and firmness of the log as well as the thickness of the tissue during the regular run of the line. Specifically, the thickness measurement, obtained at high speed, is carried out thanks to special sensors placed before and after the embossing station.
